The poignant thought of unfinished business holds a resonance within this work. Before my dad’s passing he began to photograph a roll of film that would eventually be known as his last. His journey with this roll of film began at a blank shot at the start of the negative, up to his final image which left seventeen unexposed frames. The empty spaces from the roll my dad could not complete, allowed me to replace these that represents a moment in time that I could have shared with him. This work follows the conventions of the family album through representing the photographic journey by stepping into the role of my dad as photographer. Using the camera he once owned authenticated these moments through his eyes.
He was almost stood beside me
