Conjoined Realities
Since his recent passing, holding onto my fathers memory has opened a window to an unfamiliar place. This place was his working life, a part of who he was that has been left untold. This was until the finding of his photographs that he took during his time as a precision engineer at Smiths Dock & Richardson and Westgarthes. These photographs evoked a sense of realisation of this other life that he left at the front door of our family home. This work consists of a combination of my own 'precision engineered' photographs that illustrate the accuracy to which he become accustomed to in his working life and how this seemingly shaped the way in which he placed his existence around the family home.
